Save our cash

-

FIVE thousand bank branches have closed in seven years, with more to follow.

Don’t banks realise that the monetary system will collapse without cash? Insisting everyone has to pay using plastic cards or online banking would be technological madness.

Cash is tangible, but money is becoming a string of numbers on a computer screen. Rogue nations have the means to cut through deep- sea cables and disable communication satellites while hackers can break into banking systems, removing or destroying records.

If that happens, shops and every other business would be only too pleased to go back to dealing in cash.
