Wasteful windfall

RATHER than hit Shell with a £1.7 billion windfall tax, surely it would be better to get the oil company to reduce its ridiculously over-priced diesel and petrol.

The exorbitant price of fuel is one of the main reasons for the high level of inflation affecting every household in the country — the poorest the most.

Much better to let the public decide how to spend their money. A windfall tax will just go into the Treasury coffers and be wasted, like most of the Government’s spending.
