TOP British stars missed out at the glittering Golden Globes ceremony – failing to pick up any awards.

Olivia Colman, Bill Nighy, Lily James and Emma Thompson were among leading UK actors snubbed in Beverly Hills. The Globes returned to TV screens after the 2022 event was held in private following a row over diversity on the voting panel.

Comedian Jerrod Carmichael, who hosted the ceremony on Tuesday, joked that he had only been chosen because he was black. Ukrainian president Volodomyr Zelensky addressed the audience via a recorded video, saying there would be no ‘Third World War’ and pledging to ‘stop the Russian aggression on our land’.

Irish star Colin Farrell, 46, picked up a best actor award for The Banshees of Inisherin which won a top film gong.

British stars Lesley Manville, Anya TaylorJoy and Miss Thompson lost out in a best actress category to Michelle Yeoh from Everything Everywhere All At Once. Miss Colman also failed to secure best actress in another category, with Australia’s Cate Blanchett taking the gong for Tar.

However, Miss Blanchett, 5 , skipped the ceremony as she attended the UK premiere of the movie in London last night instead. Nighy was beaten by Austin Butler who won best actor for his turn as Elvis Presley in the Baz Luhrmann biopic.

British star Eddie Redmayne lost out on a supporting actor gong to Ke Huy Quan from Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Fellow Britons Carey Mulligan, Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Imelda Staunton, Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Jonathan Pryce and Andrew Garfield also failed to win.

However, Miss James, , who was nominated for her turn as Pamela Anderson in Pam and Tommy, was a winner in the fashion stakes at the ceremony in a stunning bright red Atelier Versace gown. Carmichael, 5, was the show’s first black solo host. UK comedian Ricky Gervais had previously been host five times.
