When Crown star fell short in Diana role

AS DIANA in The Crown, Elizabeth Debicki recreates some of the Princess’s most celebrated looks, including the off-theshoulder black ‘revenge dress’, left, that she wore on the same night Prince Charles confessed to adultery in a TV interview with Jonathan Dimbleby.

The Australian actress, 32, has revealed there was, however, one outfit she was desperate to avoid wearing.

‘You can’t wear salmon bike shorts — only Princess Diana could wear them because she was so fit,’ Debicki says of the sports kit Diana wore in 1995, right. ‘I used to say: “Please, God, I’ll do anything, I’ll give you anything, just don’t make me wear the shorts”.’

In the end, The Night Manager star was saved from filming the scene: ‘We got up that morning and, like an act of God, this incredible storm had swept through London and it wasn’t safe to go to work. I honestly nearly got on my knees and thanked the Lord.’
