Amy talks at a million miles an hour. It was a bit exhausting

- Interviews: SAMANTHA BRICK

DATING PAST

I’VE had three long-term relationships. A four-year one; then a livein relationship which also lasted for four years; followed by a oneyear relationship. Yes, you could say I’m a serial monogamist.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

YES! I’ve never been on a blind date before, it’s a first for me.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

AS I’M Italian, I went to greet Amy with a kiss. I think she was going to offer just the one cheek, but I said that in Italy it’s two kisses, which broke the ice and we started chatting.

EASY TO TALK TO?

YES — but that’s because Amy had lots of questions: my job, my life, where I live, where I worked and every time I finished one reply she launched into the next question. But it does explain why I didn’t get to ask Amy much about herself. I did find out she lives with her mum. Like Amy, I’m focused on my career as a chef and work long hours. Amy asked me to order the wine and, of course, I went for an Italian red.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

It hAppened the following day. my manager had been in the same restaurant and, as it’s quite a posh one, he wanted to know who I was with — so everyone at work found out I was on a blind date.

DID SPARKS FLY?

A LIttLe bit. Amy’s attractive but not for me. she talks a lot, which can be a bit off-putting. You do come across that London style of girl who talks at a million miles an hour in the ‘yes-but-no, ohreally?’ style. It’s exhausting.

SEE HER AGAIN?

I don’t know, I’d need to think about it. At the end of dinner, I wanted to order a coffee but she asked for the bill. I’d have preferred to spend more time with her.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

At the start of the evening, she seemed interested in me but I’m not sure if something happened during the date because we left so promptly.

WOULD YOUR FRIENDS LIKE HER?

I THINK so. Amy is a smart, cute girl, but I don’t know if I’m shooting too high with someone like Amy.
