SET in the South of France, this mystery thriller based on a French bestseller stars Liar’s Ioan Gruffudd as writer Tom, who joins old friends back on the Riviera, where they attended an elite international school, for a reunion. But there’s a huge dark cloud hanging over this idyllic resort — long-buried secrets, coverups, sex, lies, you name it — and Tom is right in the thick of it. The show flashes back to the past, when carefree Tom and his friends immersed themselves in poetry, pretension and parties, but during that dizzy summer, two people went missing. By the end of episode one we know the fate of one of them — but what became of Vinca (Ivanna Sakhno, pictured far right with Stella Lelouch as Fanny, Billy Gunnion as the young Tom, and Loyan Pons de Vier as Max), the pixie-faced girl who had the men eating out of the palm of her hand, and has not been heard of since? The grown-up Max is played by Gregory Fitoussi, whom fans of the long-running Parisian police drama Spiral might recognise as prosecutor Pierre Clement. All six episodes are available via ITV’s streaming service today.
