Passing the buck
DANIEL JOHNSON’S article bemoaning the delay in starting the bonfire of eU red tape might have been more persuasive had he identified some of the retained laws supposedly holding us back.
Are we going to scrap the important protections for individuals, workers, consumers and the environment to which Britain contributed when it was an eU member?
It’s the usual excuse for why we’ve seen little or no benefit from Brexit: it’s someone else’s fault, such as ‘undemocratic Remoaners’ or the obstructive Whitehall ‘Blob’.
It’s never down to not having a post-Brexit plan.
