Tragic father who waited in vain

-

A FATHER-of-five suffering chest pains died after waiting in vain for 5 minutes for an ambulance at his home.

The family of Martin Clark, 68, said he had been a ‘fit man’ despite having high blood pressure. His wife Ann rang 999 when he suffered chest pains in East Sussex in November.

She told the BBC’s Breakfast programme her husband was crying out in agony, at one point writing a note which said: ‘I don’t think I’m going to make it. Love you.’ Eventually, the family drove him to hospital, where he went into cardiac arrest and died despite receiving medical attention.

Mrs Clark said: ‘He was let down very badly. They should have come.’ South East Coast Ambulance Service apologised and is investigating the case.
