Lisa Marie Presley rushed to hospital after heart drama
ELVIS Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to hospital last night after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Sources said paramedics performed CPR on Miss Presley, 54, at her house in Calabasas, California.
They told the TMZ showbiz website that ‘someone administered epinephrine at the scene at least once in order to help Lisa Marie regain a pulse’. The hospital would not comment on her condition last night.
Lisa Marie, the daughter of rock legend Elvis and wife Priscilla, attended the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night. She and her mother were there to see Austin Butler win a Best Actor Globe for his portrayal of Presley in the Baz Luhrmanndirected film Elvis.
They were in tears during Butler’s speech, during which he said: ‘I also want to thank our incredible producers and Warner Bros and the Presley family. Thank you, guys, thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you for ever.’
Lisa Marie, a mother of four and formerly married to pop megastar Michael Jackson, is the sole heir to her father’s Graceland estate in Memphis, where he died when she was nine.
She owned and operated the lucrative Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005, when she sold the business. Lisa Marie has been married four times. Her first husband was musician Danny Keough, with the couple having two children before their divorce in 1994.
Twenty days later, she married Michael Jackson, telling reporters: ‘I am very much in love with Michael. I dedicate my life to being his wife. I understand and support him. We both look forward to raising a family.’ But the couple split in 1996.
Her third husband was Academy Awardwinning actor Nicolas Cage, but the marriage lasted just 108 days in 2002.
Husband No 4 was her music producer Michael Lockwood. The couple had twin daughters, but divorced in 2021 after ten years of marriage.
A songwriter in her own right, Lisa Marie has released several albums, including To Whom It May Concern, Now What and Storm & Grace. Her first album went platinum and was praised for having a ‘distinctive flair’.
In August last year, she opened up about life after the death of her son Benjamin Keough. She penned an emotional essay about the low points she had faced since his suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.
‘Today is National Grief Awareness Day, and since I have been living in the horrific reality of its unrelenting grips since my son’s death two years ago, I thought I would share a few things.’
She went on to say it was not a comfortable subject for anyone and is ‘most unpopular to talk about’. ‘This is quite long, potentially triggering and very hard to confront,’ she said.
‘ But if we’re going make any progress on the subject, grief has to get talked about. I’m sharing my thoughts in the hopes that somehow, we can change that.’
