Thumbs up gets a thumbs down

PLAYING air guitar, giving a double thumbs up and writing an imaginary cheque when asking for the bill have topped the list of the most uncool hand gestures, according to young Brits.

A survey has found that 38 per cent of young adults aged 18 to 29 has revealed playing an imaginary guitar is the least cool hand gesture a person can make – claiming it was cringeworthy and old-fashioned.

The double thumbs up comes second, according the survey by insights agency Perspectus Global, with three in ten Gen Zs believing this gesture is embarrassing, followed by drinking a cup of tea with your pinkie out.
