Paramedic saviours

LATE one night this week, I fell in the bathroom and was unable to get up. My companion, who is also in his 90s, phoned 999.

He was told there would be a threeand-a-half-hour wait but someone would come.

I was made as comfortable as possible with a throw and a pillow while we waited. As good as their word, at 2.30am, two paramedics arrived in an ambulance and did various tests before helping me into bed. I can’t thank them enough.
