‘Giggling’ Meghan’s fun day out with the Queen
MEGHAN returned from her first royal trip with the Queen ‘glowing’, saying that they had ‘really bonded’ on a trip to Cheshire in June 2018.
According to Harry, the dastardly Press weren’t so sure. ‘The papers, however, pronounced the trip an unmitigated disaster,’ he claims. ‘They portrayed Meghan as pushy, uppity, ignorant of royal protocol because she’d made the unthinkable mistake of getting into a car before Granny.’ Strangely, given this claim, newspaper coverage of the trip actually appears to have been full of praise.
‘Fans go wild for double act of Meghan and Her Majesty,’ said The Times. ‘One Megs me laugh!’ was the Sun’s take, noting how ‘Meghan Markle had the Queen in stitches during their first official engagement’.
The Mail’s report was headlined: ‘Giggling like old friends, royals’ new double act!’ The Daily Star described her as ‘One’s new BFF!’ And so on.
The aforementioned incident, when Meghan accidentally got into a car before the Monarch, was variously dubbed ‘a little bit of confusion’, an ‘awkward moment’, and ‘not a big faux pas’, with the Sun concluding: ‘If it seemed briefly clumsy, the newest Royal Family member need not have worried too much.’
