Crush gig guards in bribery claims

-

GUARDS at a venue where two people died in a crush last month regularly accepted bribes to let in people without tickets, it was claimed yesterday.

Gaby Hutchinson, 23, and Rebecca Ikumelo, 33, were killed after fans tried to charge into Brixton Academy for a gig by Afrobeat star Asake on December 15.

An employee of AP Security, who worked at the south London venue that evening, claimed staff would often allow hundreds of extra revellers into venues for cash.

Using the alias Rohan, he told the BBC some made as much as £1,000 and the firm ‘knew the people who were doing it’.

There is no suggestion Mr Hutchinson, who was a guard that night, took bribes or let anyone in without valid tickets.

AP Security was said to have been told of at least two bouncers who had accepted bribes. It was contacted for comment.
