My Cornwall With Fern Britton, 8pm, Ch5
FERN concludes her tour in the south-west ‘claw of Cornwall’ and the regions of Penwith and Kerrier. She starts by exploring ancient farming dating back to the Iron and Bronze Ages, including Cornish Hedges and a subterranean ‘fuggy hole’ or fogou. Next, the presenter learns more about tin mining, which, along with fishing, is one of the county’s most famous industries. Pasties also account for a sizeable chunk of the Cornish economy, and Fern (pictured far right) is keen to tuck in when she pays a visit to Ann Muller (centre), founder of local specialists Ann’s Pasties. At Lizard Point, our guide goes out with an adrenaline-fuelled bang as she rides out with the RNLI and hears about some of the most breathtaking rescues of their
199-year history.
