King must show Harry who’s boss
TOM BOWER reports that King Charles wants to reconcile with Prince Harry (Mail). As a father, I am sure he does. However, he is the monarch. Harry has maligned his family, damaged his grandmother’s legacy and his revelations have increased the risks faced by our Armed Forces. Charles needs to retain the dignity of the Royal Family and safeguard his reign and that of his successors.
In the past there were concerns about the kind of monarch Charles would be, with the suggestion that he would be weak. He needs to ensure those fears were unfounded.
The Prince and Princess of Wales continue to undertake their duties with stoicism and dignity. Charles needs to support them and not the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who appear to be more concerned with making money than considering what harm they are doing to others.

The prospect of them resuming public life without a grovelling apology wouldn’t be acceptable to the public. They have gone too far in trashing the monarchy and our country to be welcome here. They appear to be only interested in making a fortune from their whingeing.
The sooner they are stripped of their titles and removed from the line of
succession, the quicker we can all forget about them.
r. BrYAn, Morpeth, northumberland. EVEN though the King’s weakness may be down to his harsh treatment as a child, his attitude to Harry’s attacks will only make the situation worse. Unless he changes tack, he is in danger of losing public sympathy, if not the support of his elder son. Handing the initiative to the Sussexes will mean the dismal story will go on
for ever, permanently diminishing the Crown. Charles is looking like a loser.

He and his wife officially left the institution, turning their backs on the privileges and causing upset to all involved. The royals should have the decision taken out of their hands. The Government should issue an invitation — or not.
