Even Ukraine trains are better

TRAINS across the North of England are less reliable than those in war-torn Ukraine, analysis suggests.

While more than half of trains on several TransPennine Express (TPE) routes have been late in the past three months, 4 per cent of services in Ukraine failed to arrive on time in recent days. TPE, which connects Newcastle, Hull and Leeds with Manchester, cancels around 11 per cent of trains overall, according to the ontimetrains.co.uk website.

But state-owned Ukrainian Railways said that 96 per cent of 118 trains arrived on time on Sunday, while 96 per cent of 131 trains were on time the Sunday before.
