Hit the high life... as Netflix’s £300,000 flight attendant

- By James Reynolds

THEY cut more than 450 jobs last year after business slumped.

But now Netflix bosses are splashing the cash on a £310,000 flight attendant to work on the streaming giant’s private jets.

The position, advertised on Netflix’s website, is aimed at a candidate who can ‘carry up to 30lbs and stand for long periods’. The firm says the California-based attendant will embrace the company culture of ‘freedom and responsibility’. Flight attendants in the US typically earn about £50,000 a year.

Netflix uses private jets for VIPs including stars and executives.

It is not known how many planes it owns, but the firm allows bosses and family members and guests ‘personal use’ of corporate aircraft. The attendant role involves briefing passengers on safety procedures before each flight and helping to move baggage.

They will also be responsible for inspecting emergency equipment. Netflix requires candidates to have certified flight safety training and flexibility to work weekends and holiday periods.

The company slashed staff last year after subscriber numbers levelled off. Experts estimate revenues hit £6.5billion in the final quarter – a 16 per cent gain year-onyear – with total worldwide subscribers of around 220million.

Hits including The Crown, Stranger Things and Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story helped to improve growth. Netflix shares fell to five-year lows in mid-2022, but rose 60 per cent in the last six months.
