I’m sure sir mark rowley, the metropolitan Police Commissioner, is overwhelmed with shame as we learn more about the horror story that is the serial rapist David Carrick. even more worryingly, we learn that Carrick, the officer who’s now admitted to a career of sexually abusing women, is far from the only one facing allegations of abuse. rowley says he cannot guarantee that a woman visiting a police station reporting sexual violence would not meet an officer whose behaviour was under review. I’m sorry, sir mark, but that’s just not good enough. We depend on you. The Carrick case was a ‘spectacular failure’ as you’ve said. But it’s horribly clear that it isn’t just a single case — it’s part of a systemic problem. Now do what’s expected of you. Get rid of all the domestic abusers, rapists and misogynists who hide behind the thin blue line. Who are we to trust if we can’t trust you?
