Our kind of music

-

RADIO 2 controller Helen Thomas doesn’t seem to understand the audience’s preference for pop music from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Sunday evenings were ruined when the station got rid of the marvellous Don Black and Clare Teal’s The Swing & Big Band Show, replacing them with non- entities who have very little to do with popular music.

Others culled by the Radio 2 Grim Reaper are Paul O’Grady, Steve Wright and Bill Kenwright, who played ‘our kind of music’, as David Jacobs described it.

If the Corporation wants to weed out has-beens, how about picking on the ghastly, egotistical Jeremy Vine.

MIKE PRENTIS, Nottingham. BBC, please save our ears from Rylan and Claudia. Keep Radio 2 for us golden oldies.

PAUL NORMAN, Irchester, Northants.
