Tears of laughter

-

RICHARD LITTLEJOHN spoke for so many previous Radio 2 listeners.

On long journeys, it was a joy to listen to the likes of Terry Wogan, Ray Moore and Ken Bruce.

The humour and banter was second to none. When stuck in a traffic jam, you could tell the drivers who were tuned into Wogan’s Janet & John stories — they were laughing uproariously, sometimes with tears running down their cheeks.

Today, I listen to the news on Radio 4 and then switch over to Boom Radio, Smooth Radio or Classic FM. I’m not getting much for my licence fee.

RON LARKIN, Wadhurst, E. Sussex. OTHER than Elaine Paige and Johnnie Walker on Sundays, that’s me done with Radio 2.

My husband John, the founder drummer of Status Quo, and I will be tuning into Boom, Magic and Heart.

How dare Radio 2 treat its faithful presenters and listeners with such disdain? Why would it imagine we want to listen to rap, house, grime, dance or any other modern rubbish?

It’s deluded if it thinks it will increase listening figures by appealing to a younger demographic — kids don’t listen to the radio. GILLIE COGHLAN, Shilton, Oxon.
