ARSENAL MOVE AHEAD IN RACE FOR FRESNEDA

■ ARSENAL have overtaken Newcastle United in the race to sign right back Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid. His agents are due to conduct further talks in London next week ahead of a potential £8.8million move. Arsenal ideally want to sign cover before allowing Cedric Soares to join FULHAM. The Gunners have shown tentative interest in a loan for Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga but Real want to keep the midfielder.

■ VALENCIA have made a fresh move to prise Facundo Pellistri from MANCHESTER UNITED on loan. United boss Erik ten Hag is reluctant to allow any players to go despite Pellistri and Anthony Elanga pushing to leave in search of more game time. United have ruled out a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus despite his agents being at Old Trafford last weekend.

■ LIVERPOOL are unlikely to make a play for CHELSEA midfielder Mason Mount. Although the Anfield club admire the 24-year-old, they are prioritising summer moves for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes.

■ EVERTON are expected to sign 25-year-old forward Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal. Danjuma (right) was due to make the final decision on his future last night. NEWCASTLE are to test Everton’s resolve to keep Anthony Gordon this week.

■ ATLETICO MADRID are trying to convince LEICESTER to sell Caglar Soyuncu this window. The Turkey centre back was already set to join Atletico as a free agent in the summer but the Spanish giants are keen to get a deal done now, as they look to offload Felipe to WOLVES. Leicester have looked at STOKE CITY’S Harry Souttar as a potential replacement.

■ LEICESTER forward Ayoze Perez is closing in on a loan move to Real Betis. The Foxes are looking to add a new winger this window but have been rebuffed in efforts to sign Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina. They have asked about Shakhtar Donetsk’s Tete, who is currently on loan at Lyon. Leicester expect to confirm the signing of Danish left back Victor Kristiansen for about £17m from Copenhagen. ÷ BOURNEMOUTH have asked about a loan for Roma left back Matias Vina, 25, after seeing talks over a move for Inter Milan’s Robin Gosens fall through.

■ TOTTENHAM target Nicolo Zaniolo has been left out of Roma’s squad to face Spezia this weekend as he looks to resolve his future. Roma are willing to accept a loan with an obligation to buy for £35m.

■ WOLVES have been asked to increase their bid for Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes as Lyon have made a better offer.

■ CRYSTAL PALACE goalkeeper Vicente Guaita has signed a contract extension until 2024.
