CAN anyone help Mike Brown to trace his footballing friends? ‘I’m searching for schoolmates from Therfield Comprehensive in Leatherhead, Surrey.
‘On my photo, taken in 1961-62, I am at the far right in the front row. Sitting next to me is Barry. The team captain holding the ball is Steve. Unfortunately, I cannot recall surnames! The headmaster on the left at the back is Mr Claytor, who was a great example to us all. The teacher on the right was our games master, Mr Tomlinson. ‘I was at the school from 1960, aged 12, and stayed on to do O and A levels. I was deputy head boy in my final year in the sixth form, andd leftlft ini 1968. 1968 ‘I greatly enjoyed being in the football team. We played other schools in Surrey, including Guildford Grammar — Mr Tomlinson was particularly keen to beat them, as their games mastert was an oldld rival. i l ‘After leaving school, I worked in the construction industry as a surveyor and estimator. I’m now 73, retired and living in Crowthorne, Berkshire.’
