. . . AND FOUND

IN OCTOBER, Maggie McMillan asked us to trace an old friend of Edmund Barker, aged 83. ‘Edmund met David Kirkman at Preston Polytechnic in about 1979 while attending a three-year course run by the Institute of Work Study Practitioners. Afterwards, they worked at the same company, Dorman Smith; Edmund was in London and David was at the head office in Preston. Edmund later left for a job in Swindon, and they eventually lost contact. ‘We know that David married a lady named Victoria and they had two boys; we heard they later relocated to Spain.’ Happily, David himself emailed us on the very day the story appeared. ‘My wife and I did spend 20 years in Spain, but have now been back in the UK (living in Lytham St Annes) for two and a half years.

It will be very nice to get in touch with Eddy again.’ And we hear they have since met up for a reunion lunch!
