Stop complaining

-

AS A retired nurse of 40 years’ experience, I agree that the pay and conditions in the NHS require an overhaul.

However, I would never have taken strike action nor do I feel this is the best way to secure reforms. The public may be supporting the strikes now, but as time goes by that will change.

The trades unions and the Royal College of Nursing are right to quote the starting salary for a newly qualified nurse is £27,055.

However, they fail to mention that payband has seven annual increments in addition to the pay review body increases.

To encourage recruitment, they should be promoting nursing as a worthwhile career and stop complaining constantly.
