Now Bieber sells HIS songs... for £162m!

- By Justin Enriquez

AT just 28, he’s unlikely to be needing a colossal pension pot just yet.

But Justin Bieber has sold his entire music catalogue – featuring songs from his 15-year recording career – for more than £162million.

The young Canadian ‘Sorry’ singer handed his music rights to Blackstone-backed Hipgnosis Songs Capital, the firm announced yesterday.

Sources also told Variety that his master recordings will still be owned by Universal Music, which has looked after the star since he found fame.

And the founder of Hipgnosis Song Management, Merck Mercuriadis said yesterday: ‘This acquisition ranks among the biggest deals ever made for an artist under the age of 70, such is the power of this incredible catalogue that has almost 82 million monthly listeners and over 30 billion streams on Spotify alone.’

Back in May Justin Timberlake sold his entire song collection in another deal with Hipgnosis reportedly worth £81million. And in December, Bruce Springsteen shifted his entire back catalogue for a staggering £ 05 million to Sony Music Group.

Previously, Bob Dylan’s catalogue of past and future recorded music also went to Sony for close to £200 million last year.
