- By Danya Bazaraa

A BOY of 17 has been found guilty of manslaughter after stabbing a refugee to death in a park.

Hazrat Wali, 1 , died after a row on a playing field in Twickenham, south-west London, in 2021.

The killer, who cannot be named, had admitted wielding a knife but denied murder. A jury at the Old Bailey yesterday found him guilty of manslaughter. He was remanded into youth detention and will be sentenced on March 10.

Jurors heard he had appeared in court on the morning of killing Mr Wali, who moved to Britain from Afghanistan in 2019, having admitted another knife crime. Prosecutor Jacob Hallam KC said Mr Wali was approached by the defendant and five youths while with a friend in October 2021.

Giving evidence in court, the 17-year-old claimed he got the knife out because the pair were ‘pushing each other’ and he wanted to be left alone.
