No talks over new Spurs deal

- MATT BARLOW

HARRY KANE expects contract talks with Tottenham over the coming months, but remains focused on trying to win his first trophy for the club. Kane’s 266th Spurs goal on Monday at Fulham hauled him level with Jimmy Greaves as the club’s record scorer.

It also fuelled fears of where they might be without the 29-year-old, with his contract expiring next year and no discussions about a new one. ‘There’s not been much talk,’ said Kane. ‘I’m sure there will be conversations over the coming months but I’m just focused on this season and doing my best. ‘There’s still a lot to play for, trying to get in the Champions League, we have the FA Cup and the Champions League still to try to win. My focus is on that. ‘I know there are going to be rumours about my future but I’m focused on what I can do.’ Speculation is rooted in the summer of 2021, when Kane was keen to join Manchester City. Back then there were three years left on his contract, but things will be different at the end of this season, especially if Spurs remain trophyless. Manchester United are keen and there is long-term interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
