POWERED by a pioneering spirit and inspired by the call to adventure, Hurtigruten has spent the last 130 years sailing the waters of the Norwegian coastline. It began as the first delivery and transportation service to set up a regular route connecting isolated settlements dotted along the rugged coast. And it quickly became the beating heart of Norway’s coastal communities, a vital pillar of communication and survival.

Today, 130 years later, Hurtigruten remains a lifeline to these remote outposts, with holidaymakers joining the locals and local produce transported along one of the most beautiful coastal routes in the world.

AUTHENTIC COASTAL EXPERIENCES

Embodying the very essence of Norway, the Norwegian Coastal Express route lets you visit stunning isolated towns and villages along the Norwegian coastline , travelling alongside locals as they go about their lives.

Learn from the Coastal Experience Team who will be your guides, relax on the comfortable ships and connect with like-minded travellers as you discover these inspiring landscapes.

You’ll call in at 34 ports as you travel northbound from Bergen up into the Arctic Circle, witnessing incredible natural phenomena – from the Midnight Sun to the Northern Lights – and exploring the Viking history of Harstad, Stamsund, Hammerfest, Mehamn, Kirkenes and more.

From award-winning cheeses to incredible seafood, this is also a culinary voyage through Norway’s coastal kitchen, with local produce sourced in different ports and freshly prepared onboard to offer the best in at-sea dining. With three meals a day provided on every voyage, the restaurant is the perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking, kayaking or guest lectures.

On board, you’ll be treated to a range of geology, history and biology presentations from the Coastal Experience Team that will give you the context to understand what you see onshore. There are points of interest presentations, daily gatherings, and the chance to simply relax in the sauna or outdoor hot tub.

ENJOY A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY DISCOUNT

To celebrate its 130th anniversary, Hurtigruten is offering all guests a discount of £130 per person on Classic Voyages departing before December 31, 2023, if they book before January 31, 2023. Also enjoy £130 per person to spend on board when you book before February 28, 2023.*

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS PROMISE

Stepping under the swirling rivers of light that paint the Norwegian skies during the winter months is a strong pull for any traveller, and with so much time spent above the Arctic tic Circle during your voyage, Hurtigruten is confident that you aren’t going to miss this aweinspiring phenomenon.

In fact, if you join a cruise between September 26 and March 31 for a voyage of 11 days or more and the Northern Lights don’t occur within sight of the ship, you’ll receive a six or seven-day Original Coastal Voyage free of charge.

There’s no need to stay on the lookout either, with all cabins and suites fitted with a ‘Northern Lights Alert’ so you will be able to grab a front-row seat.*

THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE CRUISING

As it sails into its 130th year, Hurtigruten is making one of the world’s most beautiful cruises one of the most sustainable too.

As part of its commitment to becoming the most sustainable travel operator in the world, Hurtigruten has partnered with leading Norwegian research centre Sintef to create a fleet of zeroemission ships by 2030.

And the adventure travel group has called for the reduction of emissions to be the number one goal for travel companies and has advocated for greater transparency, leading the way by publishing its own ESG reports.

Hurtigruten CEO Hedda Felin says: ‘When we sail the coastal route for the next 100 years, it will be emission-free, making the world’s most beautiful voyage even more spectacular.’
