Blues back in hunt for £106m Fernandez

■ CHELSEA have reopened talks with Benfica for midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who is valued at £106million. The Blues, who confirmed the £26.3m signing of defender Malo Gusto from Lyon yesterday, have had an offer of £75m plus bonuses rejected for Fernandez, 22, but will send a delegation to Portugal to negotiate an improved offer. They have always maintained contact with the Argentine’s entourage and, after seeing proposals for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Everton’s Amadou Onana falter, are hopeful that a deal can be reached.

■ NEWCASTLE have agreed to sell midfielder Jonjo Shelvey to NOTTINGHAM FOREST. The move should be confirmed today as Newcastle explore possible loan signings, including Sheffield United’s Sander Berge. Newcastle will add West Ham right back Harrison Ashby for £3m and have announced the arrival of Anthony Gordon from EVERTON for £40m. On his exit from Goodison Park, which saw him miss training and submit a transfer request last week, Gordon said: ‘I didn’t mean to disrespect or offend anyone and hopefully they can reinvest the money.’ Forest want Felipe from Atletico Madrid and have asked about Besiktas defender Romain Saiss. Harry Toffolo is joining Anderlecht on loan while West Brom and Sheffield United want midfielder Lewis O’Brien.

■ FULHAM are rivalling Newcastle by opening talks with Sheffield United for Berge and have bid for Brazilian Andre, 21, from Fluminense.

■ MANCHESTER UNITED have rejected a request from Inter Milan for Victor Lindelof. United will decide on Anthony Elanga’s future today with PSV Eindhoven, Borussia Dortmund and five Premier League clubs all keen to sign him. Everton have rejected a bid from PSV for Jarrad Branthwait­e but will let defender Joe Anderson join SUNDERLAND.

■ BRIGHTON are completing the £5m signing of Swedish midfielder Yasin Ayari, 19, from AIK. The Seagulls have rebuffed loan offers for Tariq Lamptey.

■ TOTTENHAM will push through their £39m move for Sporting Lisbon right back Pedro Porro, 23. Midfielder Oliver Skipp could leave on loan and Spurs are close to agreeing terms with SEVILLA for Bryan Gil to leave on loan.

■ LIVERPOOL have a loan offer from Galatasara­y for defender Nat Phillips. ARSENAL target Ivan Fresneda was left out of Real Valladolid’s squad against Valencia yesterday as he decides between the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund.

■ LEICESTER CITY have signed winger Tete, 22, from Shakhtar Donetsk until the end of the season. ASTON VILLA left back Ludwig Augustinss­on is to cut short his loan from Sevilla and join Mallorca.

■ WOLVES will sign midfielder Joao Gomes from Flamengo for £15m this week. ROMA’S Nicolo Zaniolo has rejected a move to Bournemout­h. SOUTHAMPTO­N have bid for Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, 20.
