The one lesson I’ve learned from life Binky Felstead

- Interview by CIARA DOSSETT

Binky, 32, rose to fame on reality TV show Made in Chelsea. She is now an entrepreneur and founder of parenting platform Bloss. She lives in London with her financier husband Max and children, india, five, and Wolfie, one. She is pregnant with her third child.

MOTHERHOOD IS THE MAKING OF ME

MotHerHooD is difficult at times, but it’s given me a sense of direction. Before i had children, i had no idea what i was doing. i struggled at school. i was always in the bottom set because i was dyslexic. that made me a target for bullies.

i moved to london when i was 18 (my mum said paying for me to go to university would be ‘like burning ten-pound notes’ and she was probably right).

i worked at a hedge fund as a PA and used to sleep off my hangovers on the office sofas during my lunch break. one night, i bumped into some producers for a show they were then calling chelsea Girls. i had a couple of interviews then i got a contract with channel 4. And so Made in chelsea was born.

We were in our early 20s being paid to go on holiday, hang out and have a good time. it was fun, but not exactly great for your mental health.

i can’t complain because it’s given me what i’ve got today and i’m grateful for that. i was just floating along when i got pregnant with india unexpectedly. i was 26 and the first of my friends to have a baby. My life completely changed and it was scary, but it was also the best thing that has ever happened to me, as it gave me the sense of purpose i’d always looked for.

i discovered a new love of life, appreciating the small things. When you’re a parent, you want to portray the world in a beautiful way to your children. it’s also given me a real sense of drive, as i want my kids to be proud of me and see me as a successful businesswoman.

With baby number three on the way, i feel like i know what i’m doing now.

it’s not perfect and i think my husband Max might divorce me because i’m so grumpy. But, overall, we’re so excited to become a family of five.

Binky’S new book is The Making of you: A guide To finding your identity And Bossing Motherhood (£20, Piatkus) is out now.
