HERGE’S THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN, 6AM, 11AM, 4PM, RADIO 4 EXTRA

-

THE boy reporter and his faithful dog Snowy go on an adventure that starts in the Belgian countryside, then takes the duo across the Channel and on to a Scottish island in pursuit of a gang of villains and forgers. The Black Island is the opening story in this vintage radio series, originally broadcast in 1992, which has Richard Pearce as Tintin, Charles Kay playing both Thomson and Thompson, and Andrew Sachs as the loyal wire fox terrier. Five more globetrotting escapades with the intrepid youngster follow every weekday.

WAVES come crashing in for the first part of tonight’s RADIO 3 IN CONCERT (7.30PM), given by the Philharmonia Orchestra. Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave heads the bill and its a piece that evokes the relentless action of the sea as it drives towards the black basalt rocks of the cave on the Isle of Staffa. Elgar’s Sea Pictures, reflecting some of the many moods of the sea, follows, then we return to dry land for Dvorak’s Symphony No 5.
