I should have spent it
I, TOO, pay tax on my state pension (Money Mail), my sole income.
Knowing I would not receive a 100 per cent pension as I didn’t have a full working entitlement, I paid a large cash contribution to secure a higher final amount.
I also deferred claiming my pension, working an extra ten years to make sure I would have enough to live on in my old age. I should have used the cash for a new car!
So much for the 10.1 per cent rise this year when the personal allowance remains the same.
My tax bill will increase, along with the cost of living.
