United bidders braced for response

- By MIKE KEEGAN

BIDDERS to buy manchester United are expecting to hear an update this week from those running the process. Sportsmail understands that the raine Group, overseeing the sale, are set to reach out to those who submitted offers in the coming days. This comes after another rough day for the club’s share price. The figure rocketed when Sportsmail revealed a bid from Qatar was coming. But after reports that owners the Glazers are considering remaining in control, the price had dropped by 13 per cent at one stage yesterday. So far there are two known parties trying to buy the club — Qatari Sheik Jassim bin hamad al Thani’s offer for full control, and a bid from British billionaire Sir Jim ratcliffe to take a majority stake. raine have been examining all of the bids since the soft deadline 11 days ago. Those in the running are expected to be given full access to United’s financial data, after being given a glimpse following their initial expressions of interest. It is unlikely first offers will be accepted, with a belief that the Glazers are seeking around £6billion for the club. anti-Glazer sentiment was ramped up at Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, with avram Glazer present at Wembley. Despite United’s win there were loud chants of ‘we want Glazers out’, as well as anti-Glazer banners. aside from offers to buy the club, there are offers of investment which avram and brother Joel could use to buy out the other four members of the family and redevelop Old Trafford and the training ground.
