JK abuse ‘silences others’
JK ROWLING says the torrent of abuse she has faced over her outspoken stance on gender identity is now being used to silence and intimidate other women.
The Harry Potter creator has been subject to threats since first speaking out on the issue in 2020.
Speaking on a new podcast, The Witch Trials of JK Rowling, the author said the abuse against her is often dismissed, because she is seen as a wealthy person who can afford security.
‘All of that is true but misses the point,’ she added. ‘The attempt to intimidate and silence me is meant to serve as a warning to other women. And I say that because I have seen it used that way.’
Ms Rowling said women had confided to her they had been told not to speak out, because ‘look what happened to JK Rowling’.
