your reader Paul Garrod (Letters) complains about bland, tasteless spanish tomatoes.

The reason they are bland and tasteless is that they are harvested before they are fully ripe and transported in cold storage to the uK.

Tomatoes grown in spain for their home market have had their full share of sun and are wonderful.
