Will the genie of the headlamps appear?

MANy years ago, when I was working as a sales director, we used various local companies, among which was a garage that we went to for petrol and car repairs.

It was an old-fashioned, long-established company. As I was having a problem with my headlights, I left the car with them to sort out. Later that day, I received a phone call from the garage. The old mechanic said: ‘We’ve sorted your lamps out.’

We had a couple of lads working for us who did all the odd jobs and running about, so, without thinking, I said: ‘Thanks, I’ll send a lad in.’ The car was great but unfortunately there was no genie.
