LEMN SISSAY IS THE ONE AND ONLY, 11.30AM, RADIO 4
‘LET there be peace/So storms can go out to sea to be/Angry and return to me calm,/So the broken can rise up and dance in the hospitals.’ Lemn Sissay (pictured) read his hearteasing poem Let There Be Peace at the vigil for the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017. In the first of a four-part series on his life as a poet, broadcaster and performer, Sissay recalls that emotional event, as well as other stand-out moments in his unique career, such as performing in Manchester comedy clubs in the 1980s alongside the likes of Steve Coogan and Caroline Aherne.
