KING BIOPIC
Elvis, 11.35am, 8pm, Sky Premiere
BAZ LUHRMANN’S film is a sexually charged feast of over-the-top visuals and larger-than-life characters. It charts Elvis Presley’s life from penniless kid in the Deep South to the pinnacle of the music industry as well as his descent into drug addiction and obesity. Austin Butler (pictured) is amazing as Presley — radiating weapons-grade charisma during the blistering musical performances — but Tom Hanks is intriguing here, too. He plays against type as the Machiavellian Colonel Tom Parker, the man who made and then arguably broke Elvis.
