Pothole scourge
WELL done to the Mail for the campaign to ‘end the pothole plague’. This nationwide problem is not the result of the past winter — the Government trots out this pathetic excuse every spring. It is the consequence
of decades of underfunding for our roads.
Repairing potholes is like continually patching an old coat: at some point you have to replace it. What is urgently needed is a properly funded strategy, and councils crowing about how many holes they have filled is evidence of the complete lack of one.
