YOUR PURPLE PATCH
THERE is an old saying ‘a peck of March dust is worth a King’s ransom’, meaning if we have a dry start to the month, it’s good for us gardeners. Weather allowing, you can now make an early sowing of carrots. I’m going to try Daucus carota Purple Dragon on my allotment. Rake the soil to ensure it is stone free, but don’t add manure as carrots don’t like it. Sow seeds at a depth of 10mm in drills 30cm apart and water.
