AMTE Power surged after it delivered its first specialist battery cells to a customer for testing. The group, which typically makes batteries for electric cars, said its non-rechargeab­le lithium-ion cells have been designed for use in ‘some of the most difficult environmen­ts on earth’. They were made at its site in Thurso, Scotland, which will continue to ramp up production and act as a hub for research and developmen­t. It rose 8.3pc, or 4.5p, to 58.5p.
