HEMP powder — made from ground hemp seed — is a great source of plantbased protein and fibre. A tablespoon provides around 7g of protein (about the same as a small egg) and 1.5g fibre.

Unusually for a plant, it also provides all nine essential amino acids, and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids; the seeds contain useful amounts of magnesium, iron and potassium, too. BOTTOM LINE: This could be a great addition to a healthy diet, says NHS dietitian Rosie Martin.
