FOLLOWING a one-off special that aired in October of last year, Jamie Oliver (pictured) returns with a new batch of recipes that will feed you and your family for £1 per portion or even less, using everyday ingredients and energy-efficient preparation. Whether it’s a pizza that requires no oven time or a chilli con carne made in the microwave, these family favourites will save you time and money — and they’ll be just as tasty nutritious as ever. Also this week, Jamie prepares a pancake/spinach/ ham/cheese stack that’s super-simple to make, and a tasty alternative to the traditional roast chicken — stuffed thighs that cook in a fraction of the time. This six-part series couldn’t be more timely as the cost of the weekly shop continues to rise, and there’ll be plenty of straightforward tips and tricks to make ingredients go further, and to make sure nothing goes to waste. Jamie will also be calling on the expertise of some of his chef mates — this week, his old mentor Gennaro Contaldo will be on hand to show us some ways to rustle up traditional Italian cuisine that’s both flavourful and economical. Buon appetito!
