He was a high flyer at Guardian

-

TONY Danker used to be a high-flying executive at the newspaper which has made the latest allegations about him.

He spent seven years at The Guardian, rising to become chief strategy officer of parent company Guardian News and Media.

While there, he presided over a disastrous expansion experiment. Large international digital audiences built up by the paper failed to translate into the financial returns forecast by Mr Danker’s team and former editor Alan Rusbridger.

The strategy was swiftly dismantled under Mr Rusbridger’s successor Katharine Viner.

Mr Danker left the news industry in 017 as The Guardian embarked on painful cost-cutting .

Earlier in his career, he was chairman of the Union of Jewish Students and worked for the late Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks from 1994 to 1996.
