THERE are more than 65 million people, around the world, who are suffering from Long Covid. Severe symptoms include breathing difficulties, muscle and joint pain, plus extreme, debilitating fatigue, and many are now living with life-threatening conditions. Many of these sufferers were frontline medics who caught Covid while working to save others from dying of the disease. The journalist Natasha Loder meets various Covid experts, including the Francis Crick Institute’s Emma Wall, to hear about the UK’s Long Covid drug trial.
THE Welsh soprano Ruby Hughes (pictured) is fascinated by the moods and mysteries of the night, ‘from the drama of storms and sunsets to the tranquillity of darkness’. For the RADIO 3 LUNCHTIME CONCERT (1PM), Ruby performs music that evokes the dark wonders of the universe, including works by Britten and Schubert. The concert comes, aptly, from a Copenhagen venue called the Black Diamond, built from a granite known as Absolute Black.
