Blackpool hens
READER Maureen Anderson may not have had a hen do in the 1960s, but I certainly did in Blackpool, where I lived. I was married on March 12, 1966 and just before the big day, I went out with a group of girls I worked with in the Civil Service.
We went to Sands Casino, where we had chicken and chips in a basket, danced and watched a magician and comedian who produced coins from my hairdo.
It was a bit tame compared with the trips taken today to Marbella or Dubai — but then my honeymoon was just two nights in Buxton.
