WHY DO GB WEAR LAVENDER KITS?
GREAT BRITAIN raised eyebrows in Istanbul with their ‘lavender’ look replacing the traditional red, white and blue kit.
The Nike design was first seen at last summer’s World Championships in Eugene and has been described by UK Athletics as striking, iconic and impactful. UKA claim the kits are a trick of the eye as they are still made up of shades of those three traditional colours, just in four narrow lines which give the impression of a light purple.
