Out? Wimbledon show in danger
THE BBC’S Today At Wimbledon highlights programme could be facing the axe this summer after 60 years of being a must-watch for tennis fans.
Corporation bosses are said to be thinking of cancelling the daily show because of the rising number of late-running matches which eat into – or wipe out – its time slot.
The programme, which has been hosted by Clare Balding since 201 , first hit TV screens in 1964 as Wimbledon: Match Of The Day, before being rebranded as Today At Wimbledon in 1990.
In the future, if a live match finishes before the main coverage is set to end, a short round-up with some footage and analysis could fill the gap, The Times reported. A BBC spokesman said: ‘We are not cancelling the highlights programme. Our full broadcast plans will be revealed in due course.’
