Friends ‘begged’ JK to stay out of trans debate
JK ROWLING has revealed friends ‘begged’ her not to speak out in the trans debate.
The Harry Potter author, 57, who has faced a fierce backlash after voicing her concerns about gender ideology and women’s sex-based rights, was warned to keep quiet after ‘what had happened to other public figures’. She said on podcast The Witch Trials of JK Rowling: ‘I wanted to speak up and join the conversation earlier than I did… but there were people close to me who were begging me not to do it.
‘They had watched what had happened to other public figures and there was certainly a feeling of “This is not a wise thing to do, don’t do it”.’
