ACROSS Ireland, horses are raced through housing estates, grazed on scraps of grassland and stabled in garages, and can be bought for the price of a packet of cigarettes. Many of these urban horses are dearly loved by their owners, but the city can be a hard environment for the animals. Katie Flannery travels to Dublin and Limerick, and hears about the clash between those concerned for animal welfare and those who maintain that owning a horse is an essential part of Irish tradition.
THE wheels of C2C: Country To Country are rolling through the UK. Now in its tenth year, the biggest country music festival outside the U.S. brings top acts to London and Glasgow this weekend. As a bit of a warm-up act, MacKenzie Porter (pictured) and Jordan Davis will be on THE COUNTRY SHOW WITH BOB HARRIS (9PM, RADIO 2) to talk about who will be on the bill with them for this year’s festival, and to give us a few of their recent tracks.
